Emailing & Report Subscription
This page gives a brief overview on how to set up and allow emailing of BI Reporting and well as how to Subscribe to Reports via Pentaho User ConsoleEmail Server Setup
Edit the email_config.xml file located in $biserver_setup_dir/pentaho-solutions/system/smtp-email folder and restart the BI Server. NB: In Enterprise version this can set up via the Enterprise (administration) Console.Enabling Emailing
- This is performed by adding an E-mail action to your *.xaction file and defining the report to be emailed as an attachment of the email.
- In addition to this target email addresses can be parameterised via prompts for reporting.
Setting Up a Subscription Schedule
- Login to Pentaho Reporting Reporting Environment
- Load http://$base_url/pentaho/Admin (Old Pentaho Admin Page).
- Select Subscription Admin
- Add a new schedule by selecting Add Schedule and fill out the particulars required.
Adding Content to Subscription Schedule
This refers to making reports available for Subscription.- Select reports to be available for all schedules by selecting Set Content link and clicking on Set Content button.
- Edit the required Schedule by selecting Edit link associated with the schedule.
- Select Set Content for this schedule, check all reports to be run as part of schedule and click submit.
Subscribing to Public Schedules
Provided user has the permissions to do so this can be performed as follows:- Login to Pentaho user console.
- Navigate to the desired report, right mouse click and select Properties > Advanced tab.
- Check Use Public Schedules and add desired schedule to Current schedules list.
- Navigate to the desired report, right mouse click and select Schedule.
- Fill in schedule particulars and select desired schedule.
- Finally Navigate to View > Workspace to view/verify report subscriptions have been set up appropriately.
